Textile Fiber Examinations
Join us on April 6, 9am in NSB 5132 for a presentation by J. Matney Wyatt, a Forensic Chemist of the Defense Forensic Science Center to learn about textile examinations. Textile examinations encompass a wide range of different types of cases from sexual assaults to murder. They are an integral examination conducted at most modern forensic science laboratories. This lecture will focus on the expertise and experiences of a forensic chemist working within the Department of Defense’s criminal investigation laboratory and teach the basics of fiber comparisons and textile damage. Together we will walk through the typical way a fiber comparison case is processed from case evaluation, to collections, and concluding with comparisons. This presentation is free and open to the public.
